Rumor has it that Jon Favreau’s Star Wars show will begin filming this Fall and reportedly will cost a lot of credits!
Take all of this with a grain of salt, there may be big plans ahead for Favreau’s series which will reportedly cost half of what a live-action Star Wars film costs. Accodring to The New York Times, this will be one of the most expensive TV series ever, putting it up there with Game of Thrones and The Crown. Amazon’s upcoming Lord of the Rings TV show is on track to be the most expensive at $1 billion.
Previously, Favreau has mentioned that the series will take place three years after Return of the Jedi and will feature “cutting edge technology a la Jungle Book“.
Granted, this is all just scuttlebutt for now, but if there is some credence to the rumors, this show will be the forerunner for Disney’s streaming service, which Bob Iger says will start off cheaper than Netflix. Key phrase is: “start off.”
Cutting edge technology like motion capture used with the Mandalorians as a focus definitely makes this something for us Star Wars fans to salivate over. What could possibly be in store for us when Disney’s streaming service tries to take on Netflix on in late 2019? Hmmm…
